Travelers from the U.S. and the U.K. entering Hong Kong will be reportedly required to go through the strictest quarantine process – in what is already considered one the most restrictive regimes overall – in the wake of the new omicron variant outbreak.
After adding U.S. to the list last week, Hong Kong authorities will also include the U.K., according to an «SCMP» report citing unnamed sources, making them the first two countries outside of Africa to be added to the list.
Countries already in the group include South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
Travelers from the classification will have to undergo a stricter process that includes a seven-day quarantine at government facilities followed by a 14-day quarantine at designated hotels alongside frequent testing in the first 26 days upon arrival to the city.
