Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing has hired a former executive from insurance giant Prudential to oversee its human resources function.

Effective January 10, Kerry Rooks will join HKEX as its chief people officer, according to a statement, reporting to chief executive Nicolas Aguzin.

Rooks succeeds Paul Choi, group head of human resources, who will pursue other career interests outside of the exchange while remaining as an adviser until March 31 this year.

Rooks will be responsible for the human resources function at HKEX, leading a team of professionals in Hong Kong, mainland China and internationally. 

She joins from Prudential, Hong Kong, where she was its chief human resources officer, leading a team to support 1,300 employees. Previously, she also held various HR roles at New York Life International – Asia, AIG and Prudential Life Insurance in Hong Kong, New York and Tokyo.
