HSBC Asset Management has hired an ex-State Street Global Advisors executive to join its exchange-traded fund business.
Cheong Mun Fai joins HSBC Asset Management as senior vice president, ETF & indexing business development, according to a statement, effective December 1.
Based in Singapore, Cheong is tasked with driving the growth and distribution of HSBC and Hang Seng ETF and indexing business across segments and he reports to APAC head of ETF and indexing sales Jacqueline Pang.
Prior to joining HSBC Asset Management, Cheong was a vice president at State Street Global Advisors and was responsible for leading the SPDR ETF sales effort across institutional and intermediary channels in Singapore. Previously, he was also a discretionary portfolio manager at CTBC Private Bank and a client portfolio manager for Asian equities at Eastspring Investments.
