Zurich-headquartered asset manager GAM has expanded has hired a new executive for wholesale distribution in Australia focused on the wealth segment.

Daniel Sharp joins GAM Investments as manager – wholesale, high net worth and family office, according to a statement, reporting to head of Australia Alex Zaikai.

Based in Sydney, Sharp will be responsible for serving wholesale clients in Australia.

Sharp joins from Apostle Fund Management where he was a sales director for retail and wholesale distribution. Previously, he also worked for Microequities Asset Management, Thomson Reuters, Macquarie Securities Group and American Express.

Late-Stage Private Investments

According to GAM, the hire coincides with the firm’s upcoming strategy to focus on providing client access to late-stage private companies in the final rounds of non-public funding.

«Advisers are increasingly adopting sophisticated investment strategies and [Sharp’s] strong technical background will be extremely valuable as we seek to provide solutions to meet their needs,» said Zaikai.
