HSBC has hired a former managing editor from Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post as its regional head of reputation.
Brian Rhoads joins HSBC as its regional head of reputation, according to report by public relations website «Provoke Media».
Based in Hong Kong, Rhoads reports to Asia Pacific communications head Jessica Lee and group global reputation leader Lucy Yerek.
Rhoads joins from SCMP where he was its managing director for nearly a decade. Previously, he also worked for Reuters for 16 years, leading news coverage across Greater China.

Within the region, HSBC has been the subject of scrutiny over a number of controversial issues.
They include political developments in Hong Kong – such as support for the national security law and the freezing of an exiled activist’s bank account – a Huawei scandal and coal financing.
