HSBC continues to strengthen the product capabilities within its wealth unit with the latest hire of a former Bank of Singapore executive.

HSBC has hired Fidelis Oruche as its global head of capital markets and investment wealth solutions (IWS) platforms within the bank’s wealth and personal banking (WPB) business, according to a statement, reporting to global head of IWS Lavanya Chari

Based in Singapore, Oruche will be tasked with the development of capital market products and platforms across the bank’s wealth segments as well as online trading offering.

Oruche has more than 20 years of experience in the financial sector, most recently with Bank of Singapore where he was last a managing director and head of alternative investments and managed solutions. 

His experience also includes 15 years in investment banking including with Standard Chartered, the now-defunct Lehman Brothers, AIG and Merrill Lynch with a particular focus on FX options. 

IWS

IWS is a newly created unit within HSBC’s WPB business and it is responsible for rolling out in-house and third party wealth products, securities-based lending and content for clients across the wealth continuum.

It has been rapidly hiring as of late with the addition of private banking veterans such as Stefan Lecher, Tan Wei Mei and Michael Wong.
