HSBC furthers its commitment to Hong Kong with the hire of a senior banker from New York to join as the vice chair of its global banking unit.

Based in Hong Kong, Weiner-Trapness will transfer from New York where he was the founding partner of advisory boutique Quintus Partners.
He will be tasked with building the bank’s financial institutions group (FIC) business in Asia with both international and domestic clients while also advising Guyett on strategic priorities, managing the business and mentoring staff.
Weiner-Trapness previously also worked at Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan and Barclays.
Old Colleagues
Helge Weiner-Trapness joins an investment bank with former colleagues in the senior ranks.
Guyett, for example, worked with Weiner-Trapness for six years during their time at J.P. Morgan. Weiner-Trapness was also an ex-colleague of HSBC’s co-head of global capital financing and investment banking coverage Matthew Ginsburg during his time at Barclays when he was its co-global head of FIG.
