A 28-year Standard Chartered veteran has been named the global head of the bank’s digital business.
Standard Chartered appoints Samir Subberwal as global head, digital business, according to a statement. In his new role, Subberwal is responsible for driving the bank’s strategy for its digital businesses including digital banks, sales and ventures.
Subberwal will continue to be based in Hong Kong and report to consumer, private and business banking chief executive Judy Hsu.
Subberwal has been with Standard Chartered for 28 years, most recently as its Asia head of consumer, private and business banking – a role he will continue to retain even after the new appointment. He also played a key role in the strategic direction of Standard Chartered’s Hong Kong digital bank Mox.
