Julius Baer has made several changes to the leadership of its India wealth management business, finews.asia has learned.

Tarun Jalali will join Julius Baer as the group head of non-resident India (NRI) team in Dubai, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia. He will report to the head of private banking global India & developed markets, Rahul Malhotra.

Jalali succeeds Kunal Sumaya who will relocate to Singapore to replace Michael Baechli. His title when assuming that role and function will be group head global India as well as head of Japan Singapore – a business involving Japanese clients based in the city-state. Baechli, a 15 year Julius Baer veteran, is relocating to Switzerland although it is unclear what his next role will be.

Jalali joins from Emirates NBD Private Bank where he had spent seven years, most recently as the head of the global South Asia business & Africa. He has also worked at HSBC and Citi.

A spokesperson for the bank confirmed the contents of the memo.
