Franklin Templeton has announced the appointment of a former Nomura executive as its head of China.
Yu Qing joins Franklin Templeton as a managing director and head of China, according to a statement, effective immediately. In the newly created role, Yu is responsible for the US asset manager’s onshore business in mainland China. Based in Shanghai, she reports to APAC chairman Ben Meng.
Yu was most recently the board chair of Nomura Orient International Securities, the Japanese bank’s Chinese securities joint venture, as well as managing director at Nomura Securities in China.
Franklin Templeton currently operates two asset management joint ventures – Franklin Templeton Sealand Fund Management in Shanghai and China Life Franklin Asset Management in Hong Kong.
