Deutsche Bank has announced the appointment of a former HSBC executive as the head of its securities services unit in mainland China.

Ben Li joins Deutsche Bank as its China head of securities services, according to a statement. Based in Shanghai, he reports to Greater China head of securities services Tony Chao and president of Deutsche Bank China Peter Qiu.

Li has over 20 years of securities services experience, most recently at HSBC China where he focused on onshore custody services for outbound and inbound clients.

«Leveraging Deutsche Bank's global custodian network, [Li] will deepen connections between China and the securities services teams in Asia Pacific, Europe, and other key markets globally,» Chao said.

Last December, Deutsche Bank became the first European lender to launch its domestic custody services for securities investment funds in China after receiving approval from the local regulator.
