The US-based bank expands its treasury and trade solutions unit in the Asia Pacific region by appointing a 20-year veteran, finews.asia learned. 

Citi has named Kanika Thakur as the Asia Pacific (APAC) head of corporate commercial and public sector sales for treasury and trade solutions (TTS), according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia.

In her new role, Thakur will report to Steve Elms, the TTS global head of corporate, commercial and public sector sales as well as the APAC head Rajesh Mehta.

Thakur, who has more than two decades of experience in the industry, first joined Citi in 2001 as a management associate in India. Her last position was as the bank’s head of trade for APAC, where she grew the business across traditional and structured trade.

A spokesperson for the bank confirmed the contents of the memo.
