A longtime Citi veteran has been appointed as the head of its commercial banking business for Korea.

Citi has appointed Jaewon Hwang as head of Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) for Korea, according to a statement, reporting to MS Yoo, chief country officer, Citi Korea and Gunjan Kalra, head of Citi Commercial Bank for Japan, Asia North, Australia & Asia South clusters.

Hwang has over 23 years of corporate banking experience and he first joined Citi as a management associate in 2001. He was most recently a parent account manager for a major corporation in Korea and head of the top-tier local corporates (TTLC) division.

«We are seeing an increasing trend of Korean companies going global and expanding their business in other regions,» Kalra said. «Through Citi’s global network and strong knowledge of local markets, we are well-placed to support fast-growing Korean mid-sized corporates with their global and regional aspirations. I am confident that under Jaewon’s leadership, our business will continue to gain momentum.»
