Payment giant Mastercard has announced the appointment of a new division president for South Asia.
Mastercard appoints Gautam Aggarwal as division president for South Asia and country corporate officer for India, according to a statement, based in Mumbai. Aggarwal succeeds Nikhil Sahni who will assume a new regional role within the firm.
In his new role, Aggarwal will oversee all of Mastercard’s activities across South Asia while leading operations in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives and Bhutan, in addition to India.
Aggarwal has more than two decades of experience across technology, sales and business development, product management, strategy, and M&A. He joined Mastercard in 2014 and has since held several leadership roles, including regional chief technology officer for APAC from 2019 to 2022. Previously, he also worked at Silicon Valley startups for eight years before a four-year stint at McKinsey & Company in New York.
