Card giant Visa has announced the appointment of a new chairman for the Asia Pacific region.
Visa appoints Chris Clark as chairman, APAC, according to a statement, effective April 1.
In his role, Clark will support regional and global initiatives, including strategic engagements with government and industry stakeholders while driving the firm’s market expansion strategy. He will also retain his role as non-executive director of the Visa Europe board.
Clark has spent 20 years with Visa, including the last 10 years as APAC regional president. During his time in the region, he more than doubled the size of the business.
Successor
Succeeding Clark as the new APAC regional president is Stephen Karpin, also effective April 1. Based in Visa’s regional headquarters in Singapore, Karpin is responsible for full business operations, client management and go-to-market plans in Asia.
Karpin has over two decades of experience and first joined Visa in 2014 as group country manager for Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific. Most recently, he was country manager for Japan, Visa’s largest APAC market. Previously, he also spent 17 years in senior roles at Commonwealth Bank, Westpac and Citibank.
