Toronto-based Manulife’s Hong Kong unit has announced two appointments at the C-suite level.
Manulife Hong Kong appoints Thaddeus Yu as chief strategy officer, according to a statement. Yu succeeds Carrie Tong, who was recently appointed as chief operations officer for Hong Kong and Macau.
In the role, Yu is responsible for setting the overall strategic priorities of the Hong Kong and Macau business. He is also tasked with assessing necessary and effective changes to the company's business model to ensure the firm stays on course in achieving its strategic objectives.
Yu is a qualified actuary with over 15 years of experience, having joined Manulife’s Asia Strategy team in 2021. Previously, he worked at Cigna, AIA and Bank of Montreal Insurance.
Communications Chief
Manulife also names Alice Li as chief communications officer for Hong Kong and Macau.
Li has more than 20 years of corporate and marketing communications experience. She joined Manulife in 2020 and previously worked at AXA as well as non-insurance firms including Shell, SmarTone-Vodafone and Microsoft.
As members of the senior management team, Yu and Li report to Manulife Hong Kong and Macau CEO Patrick Graham.
