Allianz Global Investors has hired a former Goldman Sachs Asset Management executive to lead its China equity team.
AllianzGI appoints Shao Ping Guan as head of China equity, according to a statement, effective July 1. Based in Hong Kong, Guan reports to Raymond Chan, chief investment officer equity, Asia Pacific.
Guan joins the firm from Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) where he led their China equity team since 2017. Prior to joining GSAM in 2007, Guan worked at UBS Asset Management, Credit Agricole Asset Management, AXA Asset Management and UOB Asset Management.
Sole Manager
Senior portfolio manager Anthony Wong will leave AllianzGI on June 30 to pursue interests elsewhere while Guan will become the sole lead portfolio manger for the firm's China A strategies. Guan will also be supported by deputy portfolio manger Kevin You.
AllianzGI’s China equity team has 12 experts overall which includes portfolio managers and analysts.
