Crypto giant Binance has appointed a new head for all its regional markets outside of the United States.
Binance appoints Richard Teng as head of regional markets, according to a social media post, which includes global coverage excluding the US market.
One month ago, Teng was tasked with leading Asia on top of his existing role overseeing Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. He first joined Binance in August 2021 as Singapore chief executive. Previously, he was the CEO of Abu Dhabi Global Market, chief regulatory officer at the Singapore Exchange and director of corporate finance at the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
While Binance is facing pressure from authorities in the US over compliance issues, it is rapidly expanding in other markets. For example, it is launching a new platform for residents in Japan after buying a local crypto firm while its joint venture in Thailand recently secured licenses for a digital exchange.
