Citi has announced the appointment of a senior duo in its Asia Pacific treasury and trade solutions business.
Citi appoints Sumanta Panigrahi as head of trade and working capital solutions (TWCS), APAC, according to a statement. Based in Hong Kong, he reports to global head of TWCS Chris Cox and APAC head of treasury and trade solutions (TTS) Rajesh Mehta. In this role, he is responsible for growing the TWCS business in Asia and delivering the bank’s global product capabilities to clients more effectively.
Panigrahi joined Citi in 2000 and has worked in the bank’s TTS unit in India, London and Hong Kong. He was most recently head of APAC export and agency finance (EAF).
Commercial Cards
In addition, the bank has also appointed Thus De Silva as APAC head of commercial cards, a role he has held on an interim basis since 2022. Based in Singapore, he reports to global head of commercial cards Gonca Latif-Schmitt as well as Mehta.
De Sliva joined Citi's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) commercial cards team in 2008 as an onboarding manager. Thereafter, he held various roles across sales and client executive teams in EMEA before moving to Singapore in 2016 to build and lead the client executive team for APAC commercial cards. In 2020, he joined the APAC commercial cards product team as the regional B2B product head.
Citi’s TTS unit is focused on banking businesses with a platform that includes payments, liquidity, financing, trade and cash management capabilities. It banks over 90 percent of the Fortune 500 companies with 18,000 clients globally operating in 95 countries.
