Citi has relocated its emerging markets economic research role from London to Hong Kong for the first time ever.
Citi appoints Johanna Chua as head of emerging markets (EM) economic research, according to a statement, based in Hong Kong. She joined Citi in 2000 and has been head of the bank’s economics team across the pan-Asia region since 2009.
This marks the first time ever that a global EM head has been based in Hong Kong.
Chua replaces London-based David Lubin who will leave the bank to take on a new role as an associate fellow at UK think tank Chatham House to write and engage in projects related to China and EM economics. He will also become an advisor to Citi to «leverage his extensive knowledge of EM» for the benefit of clients.
