Hong Kong-based virtual insurer OneDegree Group has announced the appointment of two senior executives.
Michelle Ip has been named as CEO of technology arm OneDegree Global while Robin Scott has been named general manager of newly established division OneDegree Middle East, according to a statement.
Ip has more than a decade of insurance and insurtech experience throughout Asia. She joined OneDegree in 2022 to take on the role of chief commercial officer. Previously, she worked at Manulife and FWD. She is also the founder of Sugar AI which was later integrated into insurtech firm bolttech.
Scott joined OneDegree in 2021 as general counsel and prior to that, he worked at a Southeast Asian conglomerate in legal and transformation roles. He began his career as a lawyer working in the London, New York and Hong Kong offices of Freshfields.
Middle Eastern Expansion
According to OneDegree, it has received an investment from and signed a key strategic partnership with Dubai Insurance since entering the Middle Eastern market in 2023 to offer digital asset insurance.

Established in 2016 in Hong Kong, OneDegree Group is an insurtech firm with several businesses in Asia including insurance solutions covering risks across pet, fire, home, medical digital assets, cybersecurity, fraud, third party crime, and corporate liability.
