A former banker from DBS has joined Citi in Singapore to lead its South Asia wealth business, finews.asia has learned.

Citi has appointed Yeo Wenxian as head of wealth for Asia South, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia. effective November 1. She will also become CEO of Citibank Singapore, subject to regulatory approval. Based in Singapore, she will join the global leadership team and report to head of wealth Andy Sieg.

In the role, Yeo will lead Citi’s retail onshore and wealth management businesses including Citigold, Citigold Private Client and cards in South Asia and the UAE.

24-Year Veteran

Yeo, a Singapore national, has 24 years of experience including 13 years at DBS, most recently as head of Treasures Singapore. Previously, she also served as DBS’ head of retail customer segment, head of POSB, head of distribution and Singapore chief operating officer. Yeo started her career in 2000 in J.P. Morgan’s investment banking division.

«We are in a solid position to capture this growth from an expanding population of affluent, high net worth and ultra-high net worth investors, with Singapore as a nexus,» Sieg said in the note. «With her varied experience in consumer and investment banking, Wen is ideally suited to lead our incredible Asia South and UAE teams – and our clients – to new heights.»

When contacted, a spokesperson for Citi confirmed the contents of the memo.
