A head for India has been named at Citi following an internal reshuffle, finews.asia has learned.
Citi has appointed K. Balasubramanian as India subcontinent sub-cluster & banking head and India Citi country officer (CCO) & banking head designate, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia, subject to regulatory approval from the Reserve Bank of India. In the role, he reports to Amol Gupte, Asia South and banking head.
Balasubramanian joined Citi in 1996 and has held numerous roles across products and functions including finance, transaction banking and corporate banking. He assumed his current role in 2023 as Asia South head of corporate banking, based in Singapore.
Global Asset Managers
Balasubramanian will succeed Ashu Khullar who is relocating to London to become co-head of global asset managers, alongside New York-based Anthony Diamandakis. Khullar will join the investment banking operating team and report to Nacho Gutiérrez while Diamandakis will continue to report to Jens Welter.
Khullar first joined Citi in 1988 and has held various leadership positions across capital markets and banking in London, Hong Kong and India. He has been serving as India subcontinent sub-cluster & banking head and India CCO & banking head since 2019.
