For Singaporean based private banks Greater China is a key hinterland for revenue and asset growth outside of their home base. Bank of Singapore and DBS compete on home soil and now they are contesting overseas.
In the most recent move DBS have come out on top in Hong Kong capturing the services of seasoned Hong Kong banker Mark Dormer. Dormer was an associate director with the OCBC controlled wealth manager. Prior to Bank of Singapore he had spent five years with HSBC in Hong Kong.
In his new role at DBS Private Bank he has been appointed as vice president covering International clients.
