Malaysian tycoon Vincent Tan has bought Belgian first division club KV Kortrijkt. The price for the West Flanders-based outfit is said to be in the region of five million Euros.
KV Kortrijkt are currently fifth in Belgium's top flight with three games to go. This purchase makes it Tan's fourth football club following on from Cardiff City, Sarajevo and his minority stake in Los Angeles FC.
KV Kortrijkt play in red and white so there will be no fall out over changing club colours as there was with Cardiff City. The current owners and Tan issued the following statement on the deal.
"The Degryse family have signed an agreement with Tan Sri Vincent Tan regarding the sale of shares of KV Kortrijk.
“Both the Degryse family and Tan Sri Vincent Tan prioritise the local anchorage of the club and want to secure an ambitious Pro League side in Kortrijk for the long term. A number of clear arrangements have been made to ensure that the club maintains its identity, while the daily management of the club will not change. All existing agreements shall be honoured.
“Moreover, Tan Sri Vincent Tan is very happy with the incumbent management and the way the club is presently run. He has asked that the current management team remain to further build the side ahead of next season.
"Tan Sri Vincent Tan sees clear potential for further growth and shall visit the club shortly to give further explanations of his vision."
