With a net worth in excess of $22 billion Tadashi Yanai, the retailer, whose fortune is built on the ubiquitous Uniqlo clothing chain is about to open his first affordable clothing store on the Cote D’Azur.
Perhaps Novak Djokovic walking around his home on the streets of Monaco in his full Uniqlo kit influenced the move.
Yanai’s latest outlet will be located in Polygone Riviera, France's first outdoor lifestyle mall, with 150 stores over 70,000 square meters. Designed like a small town and divided into four areas, interspersed with gardens and fountains, the mall will offer a large selection of stores, restaurants, a multiplex, and spaces dedicated to contemporary art.
Uniqlo will take up a 940 square meter sales floor over two floors in the mall, located near Nice. It will be their second store in the South of France Marseille is home to another.
