The week is only two days old and already the senior hires are backing up, here is a synopsis of the early moves this week.
UBS have made two senior hires with the appointment of Eugene Qian as China Country Head and President, UBS Group China, and Di He as Chairman of the Board of UBS Securities Company Limited, the firm's domestic securities arm in China.
Qian, who has worked in the China and Hong Kong banking industry for more than 20 years, joins from Citi where he was President and a board director of Citi China.
Di He joined UBS in 1997 and became Head of China for the UBS Investment Banking Division following the merger of UBS and Swiss Banking Corporation (SBC). In 2001, he was appointed Vice Chairman of Investment Banking.
Deutsche Wealth Management have also made a senior hire with the news that they have appointed Pauline Ko as managing director group head of wealth management for the Greater China business. Ko was previously with Swiss bank Julius Baer.
Jupiter Asset Management are said to have recruited Nick Ring from Columbia Threadneedle as its new global distribution head.
Calypso Technology the capital markets software specialist has appointed Mehdi Miri as Senior Vice President, Professional Services. In his new role, Miri will oversee the strategic direction of product implementation for Calypso’s clients, as well as process improvement and new service offerings.
In Tokyo International law firm Withers has continued its growth in Asia with the creation of a Japanese tax practice which will operate as 'Withers Japan, Zeirishi Houjin' (Withers Japan). The firm has simultaneously hired highly regarded partner Eric Roose from Morrison & Foerster, who will head Withers' International Corporate Tax practice in Asia. Corporate tax advisers ('Zeirishi') Chizuko Tomita and Takeo Mizutani will head Withers Japan, continuing a longstanding relationship with Eric Roose as historic members of the top ranked Tokyo corporate tax team at Morrison & Foerster
On the departures side UBS have lost Adrian Schatzmann from its Singapore office and Hans Diederen has left Crédit Agricole Private Bank.
