It has been another remarkably active few days across the region for senior moves, here is a brief roundup.
In Hong Kong the Australian bank ANZ Private Bank has recruited two experienced bankers to add to their Greater China business unit.
Johnny Wan joins as director as does Candy Tsang. Both have been working with UHNW clients across China.
Also in Hong Kong Chingyee Yau and Kevin Herbert have been appointed co-heads of global private banking, North Asia, HSBC Private Bank. Yau and Herbert have joint responsibility for the North Asia private banking business while Philip Wong has been appointed China Market Head, North Asia, HSBC Private Bank. He will report to Yau and Herbert.
These appointments come a few days after Richard Hu is believed to have left his position as managing director and China business head at HSBC Private Bank.
On the legal front corporate partner Joseph Lee has left Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft’s Hong Kong office to rejoin UK firm Simmons & Simmons, where he had worked for seven years until 2007. Lee specialises in M&A, private equity and securities work, with a particular focus on Hong Kong IPOs. He also advises on corporate restructurings, corporate governance and compliance issues.
In Singapore Standard Chartered added two to the investment team. Mahjabeen Zaman, formerly with Coutts has joined the bank as director, investment advisory and Lionel Poh, who was a director on the funds advisory team at Julius Baer, has been appointed as associate director, investment advisor.
However Standard Chartered also lost a senior banker with the departure of Singapore and Greater China market head Dominique Boer as broken first yesterday by The Asian Wealth Times.
