ANZ have announced the opening of a new branch in Gurgaon, one of the fastest growing industrial and commercial centres in India, to better connect business customers in North India with growing trade and investment flows within the region.
The launch of the new branch adds to ANZ’s existing branch presence in Mumbai and follows the recent opening of EcoWorld, a new state-of-the-art operations, technology and shared services hub in Bengaluru.
Attending the opening, ANZ Chief Executive Officer Mike Smith said: “Our growing presence in India is an important part of our super regional strategy. As one of Australia’s largest investors in India, we are well placed to support trade, investment and wealth flows with the Asia-Pacific region.” “India’s annual trade with Asia Pacific is worth around US$250bn and it is the fourth largest destination for Australian exports. Recent cutting of red tape has India on track to remain one of the world’s fastest growing economies, providing the momentum needed for further economic reform to increase growth and open up new markets,” Mr Smith said.
ANZ CEO India, Sanjeev Bajaj said: “Our branch in Gurgaon complements ANZ’s existing Mumbai operations and will help connect our North India clients to business and growth opportunities within both India and the region. We also have regulatory approval to expand our franchise with a new branch in outer Bengaluru, which will further improve our coverage in key business centres.”
ANZ Bengaluru Managing Director, Pankajam Sridevi said: “The opening of EcoWorld will help us better service and support ANZ’s businesses across our 34 markets, and ensure we’re able to continue to provide a world-class service for our customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
The new campus provides an additional 2,275 seats complementing ANZ’s existing ‘Eucalyptus’ campus in Manyata. It has modern amenities with the latest digital and video conferencing technology as well as adjustable workstations for people with disabilities. ANZ has 7,300 staff working in its two Bengaluru campuses.
