Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has appointed Brian Roberts as a senior vice president in its Product Development Department.
Mr Roberts, who joined HKEx on October 23rd, is responsible for HKEx's Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) business and reports to Rebecca Brosnan, HKEx's Head of Product Development.
"Over the past two years, ETFs have become an important part of our business both in terms of new listings and trading volume, said Romnesh Lamba, HKEx's Co-head of Global Markets. "By strengthening the team focussed on developing the ETF ecosystem, we believe we can build on our recent success and position HKEx as the leading Asian exchange for ETF investors."
Prior to joining HKEx, Mr Roberts worked for 12 years at Vanguard, where he focussed on developing the US-based investment management company's global ETF business. He was responsible for the launch of Vanguard's Canadian ETF business and played an important role in expanding distribution of the company's ETFs in Asia. Mr Roberts was based in Hong Kong for the past three years and responsible for developing Vanguard’s Asia ETF strategy, building a product team and maintaining relationships across the investment community.
Mr Roberts has an undergraduate degree from Purdue University in the US and a master’s degree from the US's Thunderbird School of Global Management.
