French banking group Societe Generale has reshuffled its management in North Asia. The former Chief Country Officer of Korea has taken on a larger role in Japan.
Raphael Cheminat (pictured) is appointed Group Country Head for Japan, with effect from 1 September 2016, subject to regulatory approval. Cheminat replaces Guillaume Burtschell who will take on a new role within the Group.
Cheminat was previously the Chief Country Officer South Korea for Societe Generale (SG) the bank said in a press release.
Former Chief of Staff
Cheminat joined Societe Generale in 1998 and has held several senior roles within the group including stints in Paris, New York and Bulgaria.
He relocated to Asia in 2006 in the compliance department covering the Global Markets’ Equity businesses. He was also Chief of Staff to Hikaru Ogata, the Chief Executive Officer in Asia Pacific.
The SG office is located in Tokyo’s core business district Marunouchi, and houses the bank's three entities in Japan: Societe Generale Tokyo Branch, Societe Generale Securities Japan and Lyxor Asset Management.
