Standard Chartered has appointed its first Filipina CEO to replace current Chief Executive Anirvan Ghosh Dastidar. The move will see the first female Filipino CEO lead the Philippine business.
Lynette Ortiz, who returned to Manila last June after heading the bank's capital markets division for Southeast Asia, will commence her new role on October 1, the bank said in a statement.
Ortiz has 25 years of banking experience, which includes heading Standard Chartered's financial and capital markets division in the Philippines.
Recognition of a Local Talent
She is expected to lead Standard Chartered's Philippines’ efforts to build its clout in the developing and growing capital markets in Asean, in a bid to support the financing and investment requirements of its clients in the Philippines, including business players who are actively bidding for major infrastructure projects in the public-private partnership program.
«Her appointment demonstrates the bank’s recognition of a local talent that is truly global in quality and competency,» said Anirvan Ghosh Dastidar, the outgoing CEO, who will be reassigned to Brunei.
