ANZ has appointed a Group Executive Technology who will report directly to Chief Executive Officer Shayne Elliott. As part of the change current Chief Information Officer Scott Collary will leave the bank.
Gerard Florian will join ANZ as Group Executive Technology, he will take up the new position on 30 January 2017 and will be based in Sydney. In this new role he will be a member of the Group Executive Committee with responsibility for defining ANZ’s technology strategy and building and managing the Group’s technology infrastructure.
This will include the development of new technologies to support improved customer outcomes and business revenues, implementing existing technologies to further strategic goals, and the creation of systems and processes to make optimum use of current technology resources.
ANZ has made several changes to its technology unit as finews.asia has reported this year. A former senior Google staffer Maile Carnegie (pictured) took up the role of Group Executive Digital Banking reporting directly to CEO Shayne Elliott. In September ANZ also announced changes to the Group’s operating model for technology, operations and shared services.
Technology is Redefining our Business
Florian joins ANZ from Dimension Data where he was Chief Strategy Officer for the global Cloud Business Unit. Over the past five years he has been instrumental in the establishment of a portfolio of cloud-enabled managed services operating on a global platform.
Prior to that role he was Chief Technology Officer and Chief Marketing Officer for Dimension Data’s Australian division. He is also a member of the ANZ International Technology and Digital Business Advisory Panel established in 2015.
