U.S. bank and multinational financial services group Citi has appointed a new leader for its Consumer Banking group across the increasingly important ASEAN region.
Citi has appointed Fabio Fontainha ASEAN Head of Consumer Banking, effective December 1. Fontainha will be based in Singapore and will report to Anand Selva, Head of Asia Pacific Consumer Banking.
Citi’s Consumer Banking heads in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam will in return now report to Fabio Fontainha.
Fontainha joined Citi in 1994 as a Management Associate in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has held a number of senior roles, including Head of Consumer Banking in Malaysia, Head of Sales & Distribution and Consumer Investments in Japan and in International Personal Banking for Latin America.
Having spent nine years working for Citi in Asia, he returned to Brazil in 2013 tasked with restructuring the retail operation. His current role is the Head of Consumer and Commercial Banking for Latin
Grab, Lazada and Airbnb
