The lines between finance and technology have been crossed again with news that Brisbane based finance group Suncorp has appointed a tech industry heavyweight to the newly created role of Chief Executive Officer - Strategic Innovation.
Taking on the newly-created position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Strategic Innovation is Pip Marlow, currently Microsoft Australia’s Managing Director, the company said in a statement today.
Marlow will join the Suncorp leadership team, playing a key role in fast-tracking the delivery of Suncorp's customer strategy.
Market Disruption
As Microsoft’s Managing Director for Australia, Marlow has been responsible for the end-to-end operations of the company. She began her career with Microsoft more than 20 years ago, working in the Australian Partner team on anti-piracy efforts, as well as the system builder channel and distribution strategy.
She then moved to Microsoft’s head office in Seattle in the United States where she held a succession of senior roles.
After eight years in the US, she returned to Microsoft Australia where she has worked in various positions across the business, including as Director of Small and Medium Business Solutions, and Partners.
Wealth Management Changes
She will be responsible for Suncorp’s strategic role in market disruption, and identifying, establishing and cultivating new external marketplace partners to meet the needs of customers.
Earlier this year finews.asia reported on senior management changes Suncorp made to its wealth management leadership team.
