A noted investment management attorney has joined law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom as a partner to lead its Asia Pacific investment management practice.
Geoffrey Chan, previously a partner and Head of the Asia private investment funds practice at global law firm, Ropes & Gray, focuses on the formation and structuring of Asia-based U.S. dollar-denominated private investment funds, particularly in Greater China.
In his new role Chan (pictured) will be based in Hong Kong.
Chan regularly represents sponsors and investors of a wide variety of fund types, ranging from private equity and venture capital to co-investment and real estate funds.
Chan also advises on issues including fundraising and holding company structuring, as well as internal fund issues and investment activities.
Chan also worked at O'Melveny & Myers as counsel and at Merrill Lynch as an investment banker.
