Insurer Generali has poached from a global rival to fill the role of Regional Head of Property & Casualty, Retail for Asia.
Based in the company's regional hub in Hong Kong, Fabrice Benard will be responsible for steering the strategic growth and development of Generali's Property and Casualty (P&C) Retail business in Asia.
Benard will report directly to Roberto Leonardi, Regional Officer for Asia, the company said in a statement.
Benard has an extensive background in P&C having spent more than 15 years across areas such as retail, risk management, finance, bancassurance and M&A in Europe and the Middle East.
Second Former Axa Hire
Prior to joining Generali, he was with Axa in Dubai, where he was Chief P&C Retail, Actuarial & Data Officer. He had also held roles as Head of Corporate Finance, Capital management, Reinsurance for Axa Italy and P&C Chief Actuary for Axa MPS.
A qualified Actuary, Benard began his career in pricing with Zurich and worked for Credit Agricole and PricewaterhouseCoopers as well.
The hire is the second senior move from Axa to Generali this year. Prior to joining Generali, Leonardi was with Axa Asia where he was in charge of Health & Employment Benefits, Protection, Marketing, Digital and Big Data.
