Withers the international law firm that works closely with entrepreneurs and high net worth clients, is expanding its Tokyo tax office with a new advisory hire.

Withers has hired senior tax adviser and zeirishi* Shingo Iizuka in its Tokyo office, the firm said in a media release.

Iizuka joins the firm from Deloitte's Tokyo team, where he was Director of the Private Company and the Global Employer practices, and prior to that was Deputy Director in the Tokyo bureau of Japan's National Tax Agency.

Iizuka has broad experience across tax matters, advising institutional clients and family businesses on their personal and corporate tax affairs, regulatory compliance, tax aspects of restructuring and tax investigations.

The latter work is informed by his experience of over 25 years working for the National Tax Agency, where he focused on assessing the tax affairs of high net worth individuals.

Complicated Taxation System

Withers Japan, Zeirishi Houjin was established in June 2015, and provides corporate and personal tax advice.

In the new role Iizuka will work alongside zeirishi Takeo Mizutani and Chizuko Tomita and partner Eric Roose, who heads the international corporate tax group in Asia.
