Following the hot demand for Singapore's bicentennial $20 commemorative note, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) said it will issue additional pieces of the note.

The MAS announced on 14 June that it will issue an additional 2 million pieces of the Singapore bicentennial $20 commemorative note to meet the strong public interest.

«The additional notes will be ready around October to November this year. We will consider reintroducing the $20 denomination in a future note series,» Jerome Lee, MAS director of corporate communications, said in a statement.

Two million pieces of the commemorative note were made available for exchange at face value at the branches of nine major retail banks from last Monday.

Long queues formed at many bank branches since early morning across the city-state as Singaporeans waited eagerly to get their hands on the $20 notes issued to commemorate Singapore's 200 years of history.
