The appointment comes as Razer rolls out digital payment solutions and explores the development and launch of digital banking platforms in Singapore and abroad.
Global gaming hardware and esports company Razer announced on Thursday the appointment of Koh Boon Hwee to the board of Razer Fintech, the company's fintech arm.
Koh is currently the chairman of private equity fund Credence Capital, which is focused on investing in small-medium enterprises in Southeast Asia. He was formerly the chairman of DBS Bank, and sat on the boards of Singapore Airlines, Singtel and Temasek Holdings.
«Mr. Koh’s extensive experience and proven track record as an entrepreneur and corporate leader at some of the leading companies in the world will help us greatly in driving our growth strategy and addressing financial inclusivity and diversity across all markets,» Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan said about the appointment.
«Core Growth Initiative»
Founded in April 2018, Razer Fintech, which currently operates Razer Merchant Services and Razer Pay, is a «core growth initiative» for Razer, the statement said. Razer said it intends to extend its digital payments platform into the broader financial services sector via digital banking solutions.
In September, Razer announced that former GIC president Lim Siong Guan joined the firm as an adviser.
Razer was established in 2005 by Singaporean entrepreneur Tan and Robert Krakoff, after securing a large investment from Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing and Singapore sovereign wealth fund Temasek Holdings.
