Indonesian unicorn Gojek on Thursday launched an online insurance feature together with Indonesia-based insurtech firm PasarPolis.
Following a beta version launched last year, Gojek has officially added a new feature called GoSure. The feature allows users to access travel insurance, motor vehicles, and mobile device protection through a hassle-free application. The partnership aims to boost the awareness and usage of insurance solutions in Indonesia.
«One of Gojek’s long-term growth strategies from the beginning has been to build partnerships and services that will deliver greater value to consumers. We will continue to work closely with PasarPolis to develop more products that best meet their needs,» said Gojek Head of Third Party Platform Sony Radhityo in a media statement.
Low Inclusion In Indonesia
GoSure is launched through Gojek’s Third Party Platform (3PP), which provides users access to an array of services from providers including digital donations, e-commerce, news, health, and gaming. In 2018, Go-Jek, Traveloka and Tokopedia confirmed an undisclosed investment in Pasarpolis.
The firm's foray into the insurance space is supported by data from a survey by Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority, which showed that financial inclusion in the insurance sector is at 12.1 percent. «Through GoSure, we want to change the stigma in society about insurance, which is considered expensive and complicated,» said Cleosent Randing, CEO of PasarPolis.
