The investment bank has made several appointments to strengthen its equity research capabilities in Southeast Asia, it shared with finews.asia.
Current J.P. Morgan head of research for ASEAN Ajay Mirchandani will expand his existing role to head oil and gas for Asia ex-Japan, complementing his existing coverage responsibilities in the energy and utilities sector.
Mirchandani joined the firm in 2003 and has held a number of senior appointments in Singapore, Hong Kong and Mumbai. Based in Singapore, He will continue to report to James Sullivan, head of Asia ex-Japan equity research.

ASEAN Coverage Grows
The firm has also hired Jeffrey Ng as head of equity research in Malaysia, reporting to Mirchandani. Ng brings more than 15 years of experience across different sectors. He joins from China Renaissance, where he was most recently head of ASEAN research. He previously worked for Deutsche Bank, APS Asset Management and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
In Thailand, Kae Pornpunnarath will expand his coverage of the consumer sector as head of equity research in Thailand, reporting to Mirchandani. Pornpunnarath joined J.P. Morgan in 2012 and was Thailand's top research analyst in the 2020 Institutional Investor All-Asia Research’s rankings, where J.P. Morgan was Runner Up for Overall Thailand Research.
J.P. Morgan’s Asia Pacific research team comprises more than 90 senior analysts covering over 1,400 stocks across 12 markets.
