London-based payments firm Transferwise expands its Asia presence with a new Singapore office and major hiring plans.
The firm – now rebranded from Transferwise to Wise – will open the office in the city-state with plans to hire over 70 new employees for roles including expansion, engineering, product and operations, according to a statement.
The office includes a variety of non-work spaces including a nursing room, private prayer spaces, nap rooms and recreational zones.
APAC Hub
Even before the new office launch, Wise was already making inroads into Singapore including the launch of its international money transfer capabilities for financial institutions in mid-2020.
«We are excited to double down on our commitment to Singapore — our Asia Pacific hub — and the wider region as we mark our fourth anniversary in the country,» said Venkatesh Saha, head of APAC expansion.
Wise was founded in 2011 by Estonians Taavet Hinrikus and Kristo Käärmann. Today, it boasts 10 million users which process over 4.5 billion British pounds ($6.3 billion) in cross-border transactions every month, the statement added.
