U.S. firm iCapital Network opens its first office in Asia by hiring an experienced private markets expert.
New York-based finance platform iCapital Network (iCapital) appointed Edwin Chan (pictured below) as Head of Client Solutions, Asia, according to a media release. Chan is the firm's first leadership hire in Asia and will be based in Hong Kong, where iCapital will open a new office to support expansion throughout Asia.
Since iCapital’s founding in 2013, the firm has grown to service more than $73 billion in invested capital on the iCapital platform, including more than $11 billion from non-U.S. investors. iCapital’s expansion broadly aligns with the growth of the alternatives industry, as interest in the growth and diversification opportunities alternatives can offer rises internationally. According to Preqin’s forecast, AUM in alternatives is expected to grow by more than 25 percent in Asia through 2025.
Accelerating Across Asia
Chan will lead iCapital’s client solutions and business development activities across Asia. He will develop relationships with premier global and Asian wealth management organizations, banks, and asset managers, and build customized solutions for iCapital’s clients in the region. He will report to Marco Bizzozero, Head of International at iCapital Network.«Private market investments are highly sought after by wealth managers and their high-net-worth clients across the globe. As a result, interest in employing iCapital’s technology solutions among banks, wealth managers and asset managers has been accelerating across both Asia and Europe,» said Bizzozero.
More Than 20 Years of Experience
Chan has over 20 years of experience in financial services, with the most recent decade focused on private markets origination and distribution of private funds in the Asia-Pacific region. He established Probitas Partners’ Asian business, where he developed relationships with fund sponsors and institutional investors, including fund advisors, wealth managers and family office investors investing across private equity, private debt, and real assets strategies globally.
Previously, he served as a regional business development director for AIG Global Investments’ investment products in Asia. Chan began his career in the corporate and investment banking sector with HSBC and Citibank.
