Ravi Menon has been re-appointed as a member of the board of directors and as managing director for a further term of two years, it announced on Friday
The reappointment of Ravi Menon to the top job at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), which extends till 31 May 2023 will come as no surprise.
Menon has seen his global profile rise since he took the job in 2011. Under his leadership, MAS has adopted a multi-pronged strategy to build what is now regarded by many as one of the most vibrant fintech ecosystems in the world and has made progress towards Singapore's vision of becoming a «smart» financial center.
Board Changes
MAS also announced a raft of personnel changes to its board, which sees the addition of Lawrence Wong, Minister for Finance, as deputy chairman, and Deborah Ong, a retired partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, for a term of three years. Wong was previously on the MAS board from 2011 to 2016.
Lim Hng Kiang, who has served on the MAS board for 23 years and as its deputy chairman since 2006, will step down from the role on 31 May 2021 but will remain as a member of the board.
Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, has been re-appointed as Chairman until 31 May 2024.
