Singapore-based exchange Crypto.com is reportedly pursuing an Australian woman over mistakenly refunded digital assets that total more than $7 million.

Upon submitting a refund request for A$100 ($$68), Melbourne woman Thevamanogari Manivel mistakenly received A$10.5 million from Singapore-based Crypto.com last May before reportedly shifting the funds rapidly. The refund error was only discovered seven months later in December.

According to a «Guardian» report, Manivel kept the money and transferred it to multiple banks accounts before purchasing a five-bedroom home and transferring ownership to her sister.

A court has granted Crypto.com a freeze on Manivel’s bank accounts and an order to sell the property as soon as possible before returning the funds with interest. The case will return to court in October.

Crypto.com has been undergoing a challenging year in 2022. In addition to marketwide turmoil, the Singaporean digital bourse was also the victim of a $34 million hack in January that affected nearly 500 accounts and announced the layoff of 260 staff in June or 5 percent of its total workforce.
