Swiss-based Vontobel has landed a big fish by appointing a 30-year industry veteran as the new head of its Sustainable Equities Boutique.
Jean-Louis Nakamura will lead Vontobel’s Sustainable Equities Boutique, according to a media release on Monday, reporting to Christel Rendu de Lint, deputy head of investments.
Nakamura joins Vontobel from Lombard Odier where he spent 14 years, last as its chief investment officer (CIO) for Asia Pacific and Hong Kong chief executive officer. Previously, he was Lombard Odier Investment Managers’ head of multi-asset and deputy global CIO in Geneva.
30-Year Career
Nakamura started in the public sector, between 1995 and 2003, as a senior economist in the French Treasury and deputy financial counselor in the Council of the European Union. From 2003 to 2008, he was CEO and CIO of the Civil Service Pension Fund and the French Pension Reserve Fund, where he was responsible for strategic and tactical asset allocation.

Sustainable Equities Boutique
Vontobel's Sustainable Equities Boutique houses 35 investment professionals across Zurich, Milan and Hong Kong.
It has 15 billion Swiss francs ($15.1 billion) of assets under management and offers sustainable solutions in emerging market equities, Swiss equities, as well as impact and thematic investing.
