9. Cabernet Sauvignon, Screaming Eagle, U.S.

screaming eagle 502

Ultimate cult wine from California, available at the winery and on pre-order only. Top ratings, excellent quality and the small number of bottles available – 5,000 to 8,000 bottles depending on the year – made the Screaming Eagle the most expensive U.S. wine. About 3,000 francs.

10. Klaus-Peter Keller Vineyard, Rhenish Hesse

Keller 502

Some of the bottles of Klaus-Peter Keller and Julia Keller, his wife, are by allotment only or available as part of a collection. That’s true for some of his single site Riesling and Spaetburgunder (Pinot Noir) wines. The quality is exceptional. At auctions, the Riesling Pettenthal fetches more than 1,000 francs or the Spaetburgunder Morstein about 800 francs.
