British art firm Bonhams saw auction sales in Hong Kong reach a record high in 2024.
The auction sales of Bonhams in Hong Kong rose 18 percent year-on-year to reach HK$670 million ($86 million) in 2024, according to a statement. This marks a record high since the company established a presence in the city in 2007.
The top lot was a HK$46.4 million abstract artwork called «Infinity» by Yayoi Kusama, featuring her two signature motifs of dots and infinity nets in a single canvas.
New Regional HQ
The record-breaking year in Hong Kong follows the auction house’s recent launch of an Asia headquarters in the city. Located at Six Pacific Place, the new space spans 19,000 square feet across three floors.
«Our new headquarters in Hong Kong, a vibrant hub for collectors, represents a milestone in our 230-year history. Here, we will inspire and connect, sharing the joy of collecting with a broader community, and positioning Bonhams for further growth in 2025 and beyond,» commented Julia Hu, Managing Director, Asia at Bonhams.
