Asia Pacific dominates global riches with the region housing over half of the world's 10 wealthiest cities, according to Henley & Partners.
Six out of 10 of the top wealthiest cities are based in the Asia Pacific region, according to a report by investment immigration consultancy Henley & Partners.
Tokyo led the region and ranked second overall, behind New York, with 290,300 resident millionaires, 250 centi-millionaires and 14 billionaires.
Singapore, Hong Kong
Singapore ranked fifth worldwide with 240,100 millionaires, 329 centi-millionaires and 27 billionaires. According to the latest «Henley Wealth Migration Dashboard», it is «one of the top destinations for migrating millionaires» with 2,800 high net worth individuals (HNWI) moving to the city-state in 2022.
Hong Kong ranked seventh with 129,500 millionaires, 290 centi-millionaires and 32 billionaires.
«Despite poor growth over the past decade, [Hong Kong] continues to be one of the world’s top financial hubs, with many of Asia’s wealthiest businesspeople still basing themselves there,» Henley said, highlighting the local bourse as one of the world’s most important stock exchanges.
High-Growth Cities
Outside of the top 10, Henley also highlighted other cities with fast-growing amounts of HNWIs and wealth. Within Asia, this includes Shenzhen, Bengaluru, Hangzhou and Ho Chi Minh City.
